BOOK SUMMARY:
Captured by a giant! The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It's lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, the Fleshlumpeater, the Bonecruncher, or any of the other giants-rather than the BFG-she would have soon become breakfast.
When Sophie hears that they are flush-bunking off in England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!

ACTIVITIES & CONTESTS:
Daily trivia questions
Each day a trivia question will be shared in the announcements. Student answers should be placed in the draw buckets at the library desk by 11:00 am. Draws for prizes will be made each day. (The answer must be correct to win.)
Create your own giant contest
Students will be invited to create their own giant by Monday, January 22nd. (they will come up with a name, describe its personality and what it does, and then draw a picture of the giant. One winner will be selected from each classroom, and they will win a prize!
Frobscottle sale (Proceeds to Telemiracle)
We will be selling glasses of Frobscottle (green fizzy drink) for $2 each on Friday, Jan. 26th. All proceeds will go to Telemiracle.
Dress up like a character from the book
On Jan. 26th dress like Sophie, the BFG, a Snozzcumber (wear green) or any other character!
Celebration
Saturday, January 27th As a final celebration when the book is done, we are going to have a celebration party and watch the movie at the Orpheum Theater. All Spruce Ridge students and their families are welcome to attend. Admission will be paid by the SCC, but you’ll have to buy your own treats! There will be draws for free prizes! K-3 students must be accompanied by a parent.

JANUARY READING CHALLENGE
Each class at Spruce Ridge is going to set a goal of how many minutes they will read this month. If classes meet their goal, they will get to go to a special assembly where Mrs. Haberstock will get SLIMED.
